Demonstration: How to Project Voices Into Somebody Else's Head

The video above shows how an “audio spotlight” works. Sound usually spreads all over the place, but by shortening the frequency you can create sound that is only perceived by somebody exactly in it’s laser-like focused path - and nobody else.

The short video below shows how one such speaker was put to use in New York City to benignly freak people out.

This is all in good fun, but it just occurred to us what might happen if this technology fell into the wrong hands. It’s terrible to imagine, but isn’t it possible that whispering thoughts into the head of a mentally ill person who is on psych meds could in fact trigger them into committing mass shootings and other such atrocities? Hah! Just kidding! That’s conspiracy theory stuff.

Even news satire website Newsweek is in on the gag: https://www.newsweek.com/mass-shootings-ssri-meds-claimswhat-we-do-know-what-we-dont-1722549

here’s that short New York video we referred to earlier.
